Before the world knew the Hot Boys as Juvenile, B.G., Lil Wayne, and Turk — there was a fifth member: BG Derrick, also known as Lil Derrick or Bulletproof. The nephew of Cash Money Records founders Birdman and Slim, Derrick had a unique style and stood out early on classic tracks. In the streets, he was known as the “No. 2 Stunna” for his flashy lifestyle — but unlike the rest of the Hot Boys, Derrick never fully left the streets behind. That decision cost him his opportunity with Cash Money — and, ultimately, his life.
In this mini-documentary, we explore BG Derrick’s rise and tragic fall — from his early ties to Cash Money, rumored issues with Lil Wayne, independent grind, deep street connections, and his passing on Halloween at just 21 years old back in 2002.
