Troy Ave Sends Shot At Kendrick Lamar

Troy Ave sends shots at Kendrick Lamar with his latest single “New York City.” East Coast heavyweights Raekwon, Prodigy, and N.O.R.E. accompany Troy on the track, which will be featured on his forthcoming debut album, New York City: The Album.

The Brooklyn bomber refers to Kendrick as a “weirdo rapper” at the end of his verse after spitting lines about his upbringing in the Big Apple. Troy also uses his verse to condemn fellow New York rappers for trying to emulate the sound that’s been popularized by southern rap artists.

Kendrick ruffled more than a few feathers this past August when he called out several rappers, and also labeled himself “The King of New York” in his verse on Big Sean’s “Control.” This brought forth responses from the likes of Papoose, Joell Ortiz, Meek Mill, and many others.

It’s a no-brainer that Troy’s line comes as a response to Kendrick’s “King of New York” declaration, but it’s highly unlikely it will receive any entertainment from the Compton lyricist. Check out Troy Ave’s track below.
