Boosie Badazz Talks Battle with Cancer, Pimp C, Lil Phat, and C-Murder

Late last year, Boosie Badazz found himself in multiple headlines, but not for his heartfelt street music. Rather, it was because he had been diagnosed with kidney cancer, and was forced to pay $90,000 out of pocket for surgery.

During an interview with HipHopDx, the Louisiana lyricist talked about his battle with cancer; losing family members to the disease shortly before being diagnosed; and the importance of having health insurance. Boosie also opened up about his burdensome recovery process — losing more than 40 pounds, being hospitalized for over a month, and learning to walk again.

In part two of the conversation, Boosie reflected on his friendship with the late Pimp C, illustrating how critical the Texas legend was of his musical creativity. He also talked about how the death of Trill Ent. artist Lil Phat (who was murdered during Boosie’s incarceration) impacted him.

Before the conversation ended, Boosie touched on his upcoming joint album with C-Murder, and the close friendship they developed while incarcerated.

Peep both parts of the interview below.
