Kareem “Biggs” Burke Talks Roc-A-Fella Records, Prison, and New Clothing Venture

When people think of Roc-A-Fella Records’ founding members, Dame Dash and Jay-Z usually come to mind. But Kareem “Biggs” Burke played a significant role in the label’s establishment and success.

A relatively reserved person, Biggs’ name made headlines in 2010 after being identified as one of 40-plus individuals arrested for their alleged involvement in a drug trafficking organization. In 2012, Biggs pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute more than 100 kilos of marijuana, and was later sentenced to five years in federal prison.

Biggs recently chopped it up with Elliott Wilson and B.Dot on their Rap Radar podcast about everything from his friendship with Dame Dash, not being impressed by Jay-Z early in his career, and helping Kanye West with his financial troubles.

During the hour-long interview, Biggs also touched on his Harlem upbringing, recent prison stint, current relationships with past Roc-A-Fella comrades, and his Fourth of November clothing company venture.
