Famous Director Spearheading Tupac Film

A biopic on the life of famed rap artist Tupac Shakur has been in the works for a few years, but various hold ups and changes have prohibited its production.

Reputable director John Singleton is dedicated to making sure the film finally sees the light of day. Singleton, the director of films like Boyz N The Hood, Four Brothers, Baby Boy and 2 Fast 2 Furious, has agreed to rewrite, direct and produce the film. Tupac’s rise to stardom as well as his murder will be highlighted in the biopic.

In an interview with Variety.com, Singleton revealed
how close his relationship to the rapper, who he directed in the film Poetic Justice alongside Janet Jackson, was.

“Tupac was the guy who I planned to do a lifetime of films with,” Singleton said in the interview. “His passing deeply affected my life as well as countless people in this world. His life story is as important to my generation.”

Now that a director is in place, the next goal is finding someone to play the role of Tupac for the movie. Singelton said he will begin rewriting the script soon. He  anticipates production on the movie to begin in June.
