The episode’s host Akil Gibbons visits the home of Juanita Abernathy, widow of Rev. Ralph Abernathy Sr. During their conversation, she reflects on her late husband’s close friendship with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his extensive contributions to the Civil Rights Movement.
Ponce de Leon’s makeup during racial segregation and its cultural evolution over the years are examined during the episode. And Atlanta’s vise-grip on the hip-hop game is also highlighted through the lens of Zaytoven and Organized Noize.
Viewers also get a history lesson on the city’s Fox Theatre, Clermont Lounge, Big Bethel AME Church, and the Boulevard area of Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward neighborhood.
