Cookie Money Talks Battling Depression

Depression is an issue that many of us encounter at some point in our lives. Whether it’s triggered by the loss of a loved one, a failed relationship, world issues, unhappiness at a job, academic struggles or simply lack of hope, it’s common for us to find ourselves in a mental and/or emotional slump.

According to the World Health Organization, depression affects more than 300 million people globally. The mood disorder is reportedly the leading cause of disability and a contributing factor to both disease and suicide.

During an appearance on the “Street Light Series” podcast to promote his new project Rich OrphanOakland’s very own Cookie Money opened up about his constant battle with depression. Around the 20-minute mark of the interview, Cook goes into detail about how the loss of his father and others has changed him mentally. He also touched on using his influence to spread awareness of depression, motivating the youth to stay focused despite their challenges, and feeling survivor’s remorse for making it out of his community but seeing peers fall victim to it.

Some other topics Cook touched on during the interview were his introduction to music, the downside of having money, and his plans to renovate properties in underserved areas and rent them out to low-income families at discounted rates.
